Descent International

Descent International  feature a selection of the finest chalets in the Alps; all bound by the very personal and professional service that has become the hallmark of Descent. Descent International have been named Britain's most up market chalet operator by the Financial Times.

For 2005/06 Descents focus on offering you the highest levels of service and comfort will continue. Take a look at the stunning new properties
Hermine in Courchevel 1850 and Valpierre in Val d’Isere that we are launching for the season. In addition the website has been updated with some wonderful new shots of Zermatt’s Chalet Zen and the beautiful Ferme de Moudon in one of my favourite resorts, Les Gets.

Descent International are passionate about service and, to make this your best ski holiday to date, Descent have introduced many exciting innovations across the Collection.

.
The Descent Difference

Skiing with Descent is unlike any other winter sports holiday. It is an experience designed by people who understand exactly what you want, but is driven exclusively by you.

During your stay it seems that something different will stand out for everyone. It might be the welcoming and attentive manager, the professional chef who designs your menus with you, or the team of staff who always seem to judge the right balance between formality and intrusion.

Perhaps it is the chauffeured 4x4s, the fresh flowers in the bedrooms, the Jo Malone soaps or the Veuve Clicquot that flows as Descent Internationals house champagne. Or even the smaller touches like the sun cream and lip balm you find in your room, Descents in-house beauty therapies, the extensive wine lists, or simply the levels of comfort and range of facilities.

With over two thirds of Descents guests returning every year, it is a difference that seems to be more popular than ever.

Be warned: once you have skied Descent style, there's no going back! Heaven on Earth

Immerse yourself in luxury. With levels of comfort that are unrivalled in the Alps, both skiers and non-skiers can relax and enjoy the exquisite beauty of the chalets and resorts. Each chalet has its own special features, including saunas, steam rooms and Jacuzzis, some with all three and much more. Across the Collection Descent International feature private cinemas, swimming pools, a gym and extensive cellars.

Descent’s chalets are home-from-home, Descent will stock your favourite film, your preferred cigar and provide professional masseuses or a personal trainer in-house. They will arrange for the very best guides to help you explore the domain, and will offer staff day-long for those who want to unwind in the chalet itself.

In each of the bedrooms you will find a hairdryer, fluffy bathrobes and slippers, feather pillows and duvets. The bathrooms come complete with Jo Malone's luxurious collection of bath and body products. And for those who need to keep in touch while away, each chalet features a telephone, fax and computer with wireless internet access.

Health and Beauty
Unwind in-house with a soothing massage, leaving the aches behind after a day on the hill. You might prefer to relax in the sauna or steam room, the outdoor hot tub or even the chalet's pool. Desceint Internationals unrivalled spa facilities make the Alpine Collection the natural choice for both skiers and non-skiers alike.
.

The Professional Touch

Aside from the chalets themselves, it is the people who run them that make the real difference. Descent International chalets are managed by professionals, from a selection of the finest English and French restaurants and hotels. The managers and their assistants are supported by a chef, chauffeur and maids, and they offer an unrivalled breadth of contacts in the resort.

Skiing is the main focus of your holiday so Descent will give you a smooth run to the slopes from your very first call. The manager acts as your private concierge and ensures that you have everything you could possibly need. With Descent there is no trudge to the lift pass office, your photos are taken in-house and lift passes are delivered to you early on your first morning. Wherever possible the resort’s best ski shop will fit your boots and skis in the comfort of the chalet.

It is for the chalets and resorts that Descent International guests first book, but very often it is for the service that they return.

Vintage Upper Crust
Good food and wine are two of life’s richest pleasures. Throughout your stay Descents talented chefs will indulge your tastes and will be delighted to discuss menus with you. Exploring the flavours and textures of the finest ingredients, they craft an imaginative combination of modern and traditional gastronomic cuisine. By jointly planning menus for the younger connoisseurs, a touch of magic from the chef ensures they enjoy wonderful food too.

After early morning tea served in bed, breakfast is an equally relaxed affair. Freshly baked cakes await your return from the slopes, and in the evenings dinner is served with wines from the house and à la carte lists. Descent Internationals Master Sommelier has selected a range of delicious wines, which are available across the Collection.

It is for you to set the pace, and dining can be as formal or relaxed as you wish. Descent offer an open bar of soft drinks, beers and spirits with a selection of digestifs, normally enjoyed in front of the roaring log fire.
.

Chalet Internet

Whether at work or play, it is becoming increasingly important to have high speed internet access wherever you may be. Descent have recognised this growing need, and have installed new systems in each of their properties.

For the ultimate convenience, every chalet features a powerful new computer with broadband access, finished off with a chic flat screen. These are each located in the chalet's study, that are also equipped with telephone and fax.

Traveling with your your laptop, Descent International have installed secure encrypted wireless networks throughout, allowing you to log on in any room. And if you do not have a built in wireless card, your manager will have two for loan during your stay.

Use of Descents internet systems is offered free of charge, allowing you to simply keep in touch, work and ski or even set up an office.

The Upper Glass

2006 sees the introduction of Descent Internationals fabulous new Champagne, Perrier Jouët’s Grand Brut. Steeped in history, Descent are delighted to bring to you the favourite toast of Oscar Wilde, Coco Chanel and Queen Victoria. Also enjoyed by Lillie Langtry and her fin de siècle admirers, this remarkable boutique house has been at the forefront of wine innovation for over 150 years. Perrier Jouët announced Champagne’s 1st vintage in 1846 and is today one of the most graceful and celebrated Champagnes.

Enjoy a glass before dinner, cooled in deep powder or bubbling in the Jacuzzi, crowning the triumphs of yet another glorious day. Grand Brut flows as Descents house Champagne, served alongside our full à la carte selection of Perrier Jouët’s wines. These include their prestige cuvée Belle Epoque, featuring the famous anemone motif. This was created by Emile Gallé in 1902, one of the most famous proponents of the art nouveau movement. Now enjoyed by the new bohemians, the Belle Epoque motif has become the definitive symbol for the style and elegance that Perrier Jouët represents.
